Look up.

(& scroll down)

The simplest way to force perspective on life is to look up.

Dating back to over 6 million years ago, people were turning to the skies and wondering why. The stars and constellations quickly became symbols of significance: maps, compasses, the main characters in legends, and the remains of lost loved ones.
What is up there? Why? This virtual exhibit tackles the way that the stars have shaped the human experience, and the impact that space has had on modern day culture. Made up of artifacts ranging from physical instrumentation tools, to anecdotes that inspired star related lore, such as the famed big dipper, this exhibit explores a plethora of celestial symbols in various cultures.

There is still so little we know about space, but one thing is for sure:

its enchanting nature is unavoidable.

This site is for anyone interested in learning more about the stars, and anyone who has ever wondered “why?”

There is no need for extensive science or astronomy knowledge, just a curiosity to be acted upon. This exhibit is intended to encourage the viewer to think about their constructs of space, and to physically step outside. The same “what” that brought about the necessity for telescopes is what viewers are encouraged to feel today. This show is intended to provide perspective on everyday life.

This experience implies a universal feeling of fleeting significance.

Through the stars - both in majesty and uncertainty - they may decipher and inform those feelings, and help people begin to connect outside their circles. In so many ways, the stars propose the most excellent argument for existentialism there is: if we are truly so tiny, just floating on a rock under a star strewn sky, if nothing matters,

                  really, truly,
                                         nothing matters:

then the
only thing that matters is the way we treat one another.
